The City of Cape Town issued a notice saying that several areas, including Parow, Bellville, Welgemoed and Plattekloof, may be experiencing water supply disruption this week due to planned maintenance.

The work started on Monday and will continue throughout the week.

In a statement issued on Friday the City said its directorate for water and sanitation will be doing critical maintenance work on its water supply infrastructure, and that residents who stay in the affected areas should take note of the work taking place and prepare accordingly.

Residents are advised to store enough water in advance as a precautionary measure. Water should be stored in clean and sealed containers. This precaution does not guarantee all residents will have a water disruption, but it is to ensure they are able to prepare in the event it does occur, the statement reads.

The water supply to and from the Tygerberg Reservoir are planned to be shut off temporarily from Monday 10 November at 08:00 until 08:00 on Thursday 13 November. This will enable the maintenance team to safely do repairs to the inlet of the reservoir. Until Thursday morning, consumers in Parow, Bellville, Welgemoed and Plattekloof are requested to reduce their consumption.

The work forms part of the directorate’s proactive infrastructure maintenance and upgrade programme. The City said it regrets any inconvenience caused.
