A model from Parow North will represent the Western Cape as a finalist at the Teen Universe South Africa 2024 beauty pageant, which takes place later this year.
Cassie-Lee Petersen (17), a Grade 11 learner at Tygerberg High School, is hopeful of winning the competition.
“I started modelling when I was 13 years old, and what motivated and pushed me to pursue this career was that I knew there was more to the industry beyond just beauty, how you look on the outside counts just as much as on the inside.
“My goal is to try and change the beauty standards of models and what is said about this industry,” said Cassie-Lee.
The pageant weekend, consisting of a preliminary and final, will be held in Johannesburg, Gauteng from 16 to 18 December.
“This will be my sixth modelling competition, but it is my third big pageant which is not local or home based,” said Cassie-Lee, who also participated in the Teen Universe South Africa 2022, Miss Teen International South Africa, Miss Autism 2022, Snow Queen 2023 and Pure Beauty 2023.
