Dekro Paint in Kuils River went up in smoke on Thursday (31 August) after residents heard three explosions.
Residents told a TygerBurger reporter who was on the scene by noon that they heard two explosions before the fire, and another explosion while the factory was burning.
City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Theo Layne, says the fire was in the storage area of the factory.
“No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is static electricity in the store area.”
Fabriek Street was closed off while the Fire and Rescue Services were working to extinguish the blaze.
