The police are urging the public to be on the lookout for a suspect wanted for kidnapping, rape and robbery.

The Bellville family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit say the suspect is reported to have tied up and raped a 36-year-old woman at a lodge in Rhodes Street, Goodwood on Monday 4 July.

According to police, the person of interest – known only as Mike – thereafter fled the scene with the woman’s mobile phone and cash.

Last week (14 September) TygerBurger reported about this lodge where residents complained about the unlawfulness and prostitution happening at its premises.

Victor Dongmo, the owner of the lodge, said no rape incidents happened at the lodge.

He also claims that he does not know the suspect.

According to him, there is no fighting going on at the lodge and everything is above board.

Capt Waynne Theunis, communications officer at Goodwood police, said the circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation and the suspect is still at large.
