One man lost his life, while another suffered burn wounds to
the upper part of his body, after a fire broke out at the Shoprite distribution
warehouse in Stikland earlier today.
According to Theo Layne, City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue
Services spokesperson, they received a call about an apparent fire at about
10:20.
“One man was declared dead at the scene and another was
treated for burn wounds before being rushed to hospital,” Layne says.
“Two technicians were working with two other subcontractors
on a transformer that supplies power to the distribution centre when it went
off (exploded).
“Unfortunately one lost his life, one got burned and two
others had minor injuries.”
