Paige Rossouw (21) from Richwood died in a motor vehicle accident on 1 January en route to Cape Town from Langebaan.
Two of her colleagues at a Durbanville gym who were traveling with her, survived the accident with serious injuries, Paige’s stepmother, Carol Ann Rossouw, told TygerBurger on Tuesday.
“The accident happened at 02:30 on the first of January as they were traveling from Langebaan back to Cape Town. It happened on the Hopefield road, about 12 kilometres from Malmesbury,” Carol Ann said.
“All three worked for Virgin Active Durbanville. Paige started around August last year, I think. Her one friend is still in hospital, but I am not sure about the third person,” Carol Ann said.
“Paige wasn’t married yet and she’s leaving behind two sets of parents. She has three sisters and two brothers. She was studying at Stellenbosch University, but left her studies to go and work,” Carol Ann said.
“Paige was 21 and would have turned 22 on 29 January.”
Paige’s brother, Cameron Rossouw, told TygerBurger she was an “awesome” sister.
“There really are no words that can explain our loss. She was an awesome sister, very supportive and she will be dearly missed. Some of her friends have already spoken to me and they are really devastated. She was a strong, independent person. An amazing sister.”
