The scene in Montague Gardens was quite and no protest action took place.

Milnerton police were called out to Montague Gardens today (Tuesday 23 May) following reports of protest action on Montague Drive.

TygerBurger received a message shortly after 11:30 that said a protest had broken out at the Woolworths Distribution Centre.

TygerBurger arrived at the scene shortly before noon and spoke to Milnerton Cluster police commander Major-general Anneqah Jordaan who said it was not a protest.

She said staff of Phangela Security gathered about on Montague Drive. “They were apparently unhappy about something but did not protest. Milnerton police and public order police arrived but the crowd had already dispersed.”

She says earlier reports about rubber bullets being fired are not true.
