The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services extinguished a fire on Monday morning (28 August) at Rietvlei Nature Reserve in Milnerton.
The fire-fighting team got to the nature reserve at 05:59 and managed to extinguish the blaze by 09:24, according to spokesperson, Theo Layne.
“A large area of vegetation was burnt and the exact area in square metres is not known at this time.”
Layne says three fire engines and two water tankers responded, with 19 fire fighters from Milnerton, Melkbos, Atlantis, Goodwood and Epping fire stations there to assist.
He says there was no damage to any structural properties.
“The cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage.”
