Nineteen left injured in taxi accident

Upon assessing the patients, paramedics found that 19 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.


Nineteen people were left injured when a car collided with a taxi at the Durban Road and N1 turnoff in Bellville this morning (Saturday 20 January).

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, when paramedics and Metro Rescue Services arrived on the scene they found a taxi lying on its side in the left lane with a light motor vehicle parked a short distance away. 

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found several passengers walking around on the scene while a woman was found lying trapped inside the taxi. Metro Rescue Services utilised various tools to free the woman from the vehicle,” says Meiring. 

Upon assessing the patients, paramedics found that 19 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. 

“The patients have been transported to various provincial hospitals for further treatment,” confirms Meiring. “Local authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.”
