As the new Ward 113 councillor Sue van der Linde approached the end of her fifth week at the helm, she is currently tackling various issues in the ward that needs attention.
“I am excited to share the progress we’ve made towards my commitment to creating a cleaner, safer Ward 113 within my first 100 days,” she says.
Last week, she met with the City’s parks department to discuss a legacy project for Ward 113.
“I’m thrilled about the potential impact this project could have in enhancing our public buildings for generations to come,” she says.

However, despite efforts being made, the challenges with the vagrants and squatters in various parks and wetlands, also on Raats Drive Circle, is increasing daily.
“I want to assure you that this remains a top priority. I’ve also raised concerns once again about the squatters behind the taxi rank on Blaauwberg Road. This situation is rapidly escalating, with more structures appearing daily, and requested urgent feedback to ensure that our original agreement to remove all new structures is upheld,” she says.
Beautification
She also recently met with the City’s landscaping team, who is spearheading the Blaauwberg Road beautification project.
“I’m pleased to announce that we have secured funds to install a ’Welcome to Table View‘ sign and flower bed with lighting. This will be placed at the entrance to our ward, improving the area where a homeless individual currently resides and creating a more welcoming entryway for residents and visitors alike,” she says.
“I also had the pleasure of meeting with the chairpersons of the Rotary Club and the Table View Lions Club. These meetings were incredibly productive, and I’m looking forward to future collaborations that will benefit our community. My meeting with the Local Spatial Development Framework (LSDF) team regarding the Blaauwberg Corridor densification project was an eye-opener. It has given me valuable insights into the future plans for our area, and I am now better equipped to represent your interests as these plans unfold,” she says.
“It has been an amazing and productive week, and I am truly honoured to serve as your councillor. Together, we are making Ward 113 a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant community.”
