Edgemead High School has announced that a new principal will be taking over the reigns as from 2024.

The announcement of the new head, Joel Erasmus, was made on the school’s social media pages last week. Erasmus is also a former resident of Edgemead and learner at the local high school.

A brief, which included his educational and career history, was shared in a newsletter last week.

Erasmus began his career at JG Meiring High School in 2008 and rose to the position of departmental head in 2016. In 2017, he joined Wynberg Boys High School where he took on roles such as day boarding house master, hostel master, head of History and head of student leadership.

His journey continued at Grey College in Bloemfontein in October 2012, where he assumed the role of deputy headmaster, overseeing the student wellbeing portfolio, the newsletter reads.

His education journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in History and Social Anthropology, along with a post-graduate certificate in Education from the University of Cape Town (UCT). He has also recently completed a certificate in executive life coaching and financial management with UCT and GetSmarter.
