The improvement of services to the community of Parow and surrounding areas is the first
mission that the newly-appointed station commander at Parow Police Station, Colonel Tebogo Jacobs, is prioritising.
Jacobs started on 1
January in Parow and is originally from the Free State.
“I cannot improve the services if the community is not on
board as well. This is not a one-man-show,
but a collective of all involved. I am thus also appealing to the community to
work closely with us, so that all of us can share in the successes of the
police station,” Jacobs said.
He was born and bred in Brandfort in the Free State and has
25 years’ service in the police force.
“When I completed my training in 1994 I was stationed in
Brandfort as a constable. Through the years I’ve moved through the ranks at
police stations in Theunissen, Hoopstad, Kroonstad and Bloemfontein and applied
for the vacancy here in October last year. I was promoted to Parow and started
my journey in the Western Cape at the beginning of the year,” Jacobs said.
“I have much to offer in terms of service improvement.” He said he also believes in teamwork. “Through service delivery and teamwork by the
police and the community we can address crime in our area. I also want to be
transparent if crime or crimes are committed so that the community at large
will feel free to help us identify the criminals,
or help us bring them to book. If a murder is committed and the community knows
who is or was involved, then I want to know about it,” he said.
Jacobs is a widower and
lost his wife in 2013 due to cancer. He has two children and they will join him
at the end of the year, or early in 2019.
