N1 near Cape Town closed on 29 October

The N1 between Jip de Jager and Durban Road in the Cape Town Metropolitan area will be closed from 16:00 on 29 October until 06:00 on 30 October 2016.

The N1 between Jip de Jager and Durban Road in the Cape Town Metropolitan area will be closed from 16:00 on 29 October until 06:00 on 30 October 2016.

This announcement was made in a statement by the Department of Transport and Public Works last Friday.

“The closure is required in order to safely remove overhead sign gantries as part of the department’s project to extend the third lane on the N1 from west of Durban Road to beyond the Old Oak interchange,” according to the statement.

“The time-slot was chosen to minimise the impact on road users.”

Traffic will be diverted as follows during this period:

Outbound: Exit N1 at Jip de Jager off-ramp and turn left at traffic light, right at Uys Krige, right at Lincoln, left at Frans Conradie, left at Durban Road, right at Durban Road on-ramp to rejoin the N1 outbound.

Inbound: Exit N1 at Durban Road off-ramp and turn left at traffic light, right at Frans Conradie, right at Mike Pienaar, left onto on ramp to rejoin the N1 inbound.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for your patience in the interest of providing better, safer roads for all,” the statement read.
