The MyCiTi
bus service remains suspended until further notice.
The
nationwide strike action has been ongoing since Wednesday 18 April.
It is
unclear when the deadlocked wage negotiations will be resolved.
The City of
Cape Town has urged commuters to make alternative travel arrangements for the
next few days.
“The City
is monitoring the situation and will provide commuters with updates as far as
possible. All of those making use of road-based transport should expect heavy
traffic and longer travelling times for as long as the strike continues, and in
particular during wet weather conditions.
“Those
commuters with monthly MyCiTi tickets must note that the monthly packages will
be extended by the number of days that the strike action lasts. The extension
will be determined once the strike has come to an end. Further details will be
communicated in due course,” says the City’s Mayoral Committee member for
transport and urban development, Councillor Brett Herron.
