The man accused of killing a 51-year-old Goodwood woman
appeared briefly at the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court this morning.

Dressed in a leather jacket, jeans and boots, the
32-year-old man kept quiet throughout the hearing and only gave brief answers
to questions posed to him.

Magistrate Shaun Lee explained that this was not the man’s
first encounter with the law.

“In fact, you currently have a pending case – one for which
you did not appear for a hearing on the day of the alleged murder,” he told the
accused.

He was arrested on the same day and forfeited bail of R15
000, which was paid by the deceased.

“You will remain in police custody until 5 September while
investigations continue.”

Family members were present at the hearing and were
poker-faced throughout the proceedings.
