Hundreds of fed-up Bonteheuwel residents who gathered on the corner of Jakkalsvlei Avenue on Wednesday morning 29 August in solidarity against gangsterism, had to be dispersed by law enforcers.
What started as a peaceful protest ended in stun grenades being fired into the crowd of protesters and road closures both ways in Jakes Gerwel Drive.
City of Cape Town officials and the police responded to the scene to keep the situation under control. Jakes Gerwel Drive was soon reopened.
The peaceful protest follows the spate of gang violence and lost lives in recent weeks.
