Motorists are warned to drive carefully at the crossing between Brackenfell Boulevard and Old Paarl road.
This comes after a vehicle drove into a shop on Wednesday. According to the owner, is the fourth vehicle to drive into the Dione Lifestyle shop.
TygerBurger contacted the shop owner Dene van der Merwe who says there have been five accidents that happened between her and her neighbour’s shop over the years.
“This is the fourth car that drove into my shop but another car drove into the shop next door.”
Van der Merwe says most accidents happen after midnight.
She says the girl was fortunate to come out of the accident without serious injuries. She drove into the front of the shop.
She says motorists must be careful when driving on the road because the accidents happen from the Protea Heights side, driving down the bridge.
“There is a dip in the road after the bridge, over the crossing, and if approached at high speed, when the vehicle becomes airborne, one could lose control of it,” Van der Merwe says.
She says that something needs to be done on the road to curb these accidents.
“Maybe the municipality can put cameras at the intersection.”
“A person’s life is far more important and we don’t want anyone to lose their lives here.”
