The main house occupied by the Bad Boys gang in Leonsdale was hit by Metro Police early this morning (15 May).
Led by Metro Police chief, Wayne Le Roux, officers conducted a raid at the property in 12th Avenue shortly after 07:00.
Four men who all claimed they were gangsters were searched but no drugs were found on the property.
During the search two men were found with large sums of money and could not explain where they got it from. The row of properties which officers say is owned by the City of Cape Town, is often used by gangsters to store drugs.
Le Roux says many of the occupants of these rental stock homes do not have leases with the City and those who have, are either living in the properties among gangsters or have surrendered their homes to gangs.
Officers also searched well-known gang and drug houses in Uitsig and Ravensmead where they confiscated dagga.
He further explains operations like this are held in response to the community’s call for intervention amid ongoing gang-related shootings. Le Roux also expressed concern about the large number of young children living in these homes filled with waste.
