Metro Police arrest two alleged drug dealers

During the crime prevention patrol in Sylvia Street, officers recognised a known drug dealer sitting in front of a tuckshop.

Two vigilant Metro Police officers managed to arrest a known drug dealer for the second time this year on Sunday 11 February in Kuils River.

Metro Police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Zelda Martin, says a stop-and-search operation was being conducted in Kalkfontein in the Kuils River area when the arrest happened.

“During the crime prevention patrol in Sylvia Street, officers recognised a known drug dealer sitting in front of a tuckshop. Upon searching the suspect, a transparent bag with 38 sachets of tik was discovered in his possession.”

She says the officers confiscated the drugs and arrested the 29-year-old suspect for the possession of tik.

“The accused will appear in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court in due course.”

Martin says that while police were on patrol in Elsies River following a recent shooting in the area, they received a tip-off about drug dealing in 11th Avenue, Leonsdale.

“Upon arrival, a suspect was found with two half and two whole mandrax tablets in a yellow container in his pocket. A further search of the premises led to the discovery of five bankies of tik, two transparent bags containing dagga and 14 dagga cigarettes and a cash amount of R648.00.”

She says the suspect is due to appear in court soon.
