A relentless three-week manhunt saw the arrest of the two men linked to the murder of the 64-year-old Nophumela Makeleni, for whom warrants of arrests were issued.

“For the past three weeks various leads and information received and pursued led the investigative team across the province, culminating in the arrests of the two fugitives on Wednesday 18 September on a farm in Klapmuts in a take-down operation,” said provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie.

He said the two, 29 and 33 years old, were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm that was linked to a house robbery which took place in Kraaifontein last month.

The suspects face charges related to murder and house robbery, and will appear in the Bluedowns Magistrates’ Court once charged.

The possibility that more charges will be added is not excluded.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile, praised those members involved with the take-down of the suspects for their endurance and commitment to bringing these dangerous suspects to book.
