There’s a new leader at the Table View Police Station, with the appointment of Col Tjikamba Markus Mbangu as station commander on Monday 13 November.

This came after the sudden transfer of Col Junaid Alcock to Athlone Police Station.

On Monday staff at Table View Police Station gave Mbangu a warm welcome to the station, where he addressed personnel. Born and bred in Namibia in April 1972, he is married and has three children (two sons and a daughter). On 8 July 1991 Mbangu joined the police and worked his way through all ranks. He also obtained a national diploma in policing in June 2013 and BTech degree in policing in June 2014.

Mbangu has extensive police experience and worked across the country in almost all the provinces, except Limpopo. In 1993 he worked at Weenen Stock Theft Unit in KwaZulu-Natal and 1996 at the Stock Theft Unit in Kuils River.

He also has experience in the Criminal Record Centre, and worked at the Gordon’s Bay, Macassar and Athlone Police stations as station commander. Mbangu received training through the police in forensic chemistry, basic forensic toxicology, crime-scene management and forensic biology.

Addressing to Table View police personnel, he said: “I will give support to everyone and will continue the good partnership base already established.”

Mbangu said he was looking forward to working closely with all partners and to build on the current relationship among the police, external partners and the broader community.
