The first “Market in the Park” was absolutely packed and a great day out.

Residents of Echium Park are reclaiming their public spaces in the most inspiring way – through a vibrant community market organised by the Friends of Echium Park.

The park came alive with excitement as it hosted its first-ever community market, drawing crowds of all ages who praised its purpose and atmosphere, proving it to be well worth the visit.

One of the highlights was the painting stall.

Visitors were entertained by a stilt walker.

The event featured a wide array of stalls, delicious food options, and lively entertainment, making it a perfect day out for families. This vibrant initiative marks a new chapter for the park, transforming it into a hub of community spirit and activity.

Local ward councillor Jonathan Mills says a community market in Table View is long overdue.

“The very first ‘Market in the Park’ is looking great. I am absolutely delighted to see this market come to life. This local market will add much to the fabric of the community and fill a gap in the amenities that residents can enjoy without going far. Uplifting public spaces by keeping them busy and maintained also prevents disrepair and abuse of those spaces from creeping in. I look forward to seeing everyone there again next month,” Mills says.

The next market is set to take place on 15 February, promising another opportunity to experience this wonderful community initiative.
