Milnerton police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found lying in an open field.
The body was allegedly found by a passer-by on a field off Bosmansdam Road, Milnerton.
Captain Adriana Chandler, police spokesperson, says the man was identified by a family member on the scene.
“The cause of death is unknown at this stage,” she says.
The body was found on Thursday (29 May).
Russel Meiring, spokesperson for the ER24 emergency services, says the man is believed to be in his 50s.
He says paramedics were responding to another emergency call when they were flagged down by members of the community.
“Once on scene, paramedics found the body of a man lying some distance into the field against a wall.
“It was evident to paramedics that the man had been dead for some time. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene,” Meiring says.
He says the details surrounding this incident are unclear.
