Man arrested in possession of mandrex worth about R70 000.

A total of 1375 Mandrax tablets were found at a house in
Downing Street in Montana, Bishop Lavis by police on Tuesday (29 August).

Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says the tablets and various other broken
tablets were seized by police and are estimated to be
valued at
about R70 000.

“Police members from Project Stabilisation responded to
information about alleged illegal drug activity and proceeded to a house in
Montana in Bishop Lavis. At approximately 14:15 police entered and searched a
residence in Downing Street where they seized a sports bag containing various
plastic bags with Mandrax.”

He says a 33-year-old man was arrested and is to appear in
the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court, once charged.

“The abuse of illegal substances is one of the root causes
of violent crime, and the members from Project Stabilisation are lauded for
their efforts to take drugs off our streets.”
