Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit detectives are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing Dayaan Fataar.

He has been identified as a person of interest in an investigation involving the discovery of several firearms and rounds of ammunition in Weltervreden Valley.
According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, members of the South African Police Service received information about firearms being stored at a house in Weltevreden Valley.
Acting on the tip-off, they searched the property in Oak Way, Weltevreden Valley, on 1 September 2025, where they uncovered an arms cache.
The illegal weapons and ammunition were reportedly hidden in cooler boxes and safes inside the house. The individual who had been renting the property could not be traced, Van Wyk said.
Police are now appealing to anyone with information in locating Fataar or furthering the investigation to contact Detective Colonel Bonginkosi Libala at 082 411 2042, Detective Sergeant Kevin Kok at 071 673 1768, or call Crime Stop anonymously on 08600 10111.
