Mfuleni police are investigating one case of murder and another of attempted murder after two men were stabbed resulting in the death of one of them.
According to Mfuleni police spokesperson, Captain Nomathemba Muavha the incident occurred at 13:20 outside Silversands Secondary School on Thursday 15 June.
Muavha says police were alerted to a fight that broke out outside the school premises and upon their arrival found the body of a 26-year-old man on the school premises.
“According to witnesses the man collapsed and died on the school premises after he was stabbed outside the school,” Muavha says.
She says the other victim, a 22-year-old man was also stabbed and taken to hospital and treated for his wounds.
Muavha says no learners at the school were injured during the incident.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident is being investigated and police are also investigating the possibility that it may be gang related,” she says.
Police have not arrested anyone at this stage and are following up on leads.
“Reports that the victims were learners at the school are untrue,” she says.
