Milnerton
police say they are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the
death of an unidentified man in his late 30s in Montague Gardens earlier this (Friday)
morning.

According
to Captain Adriana Chandler, Milnerton police spokesperson, the man died after
being hit by a vehicle when crossing the road on the corners of Railway and
Station Roads in Montague Gardens around 07:00.

Chandler
says the man, who was dressed in dark colours, had no identification on his
person.

The
man crossed the road without looking left or right, she adds.

“The
man walked in front of an approaching vehicle. The driver of the vehicle could
not swerve or stop in time and unfortunately hit the pedestrian, who was
dressed in dark coloured clothing,” she says.

The
driver stopped to check if the pedestrian was injured and contacted emergency
services.

The
pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
