Parow Police caught a burglar red-handed when they responded
to an alarm activation at a house in Duncan Street in Parow Valley on Monday 20
August.
Police received the call and responded to the home around
15:00 where they found a 21-year-old man allegedly breaking into the house,
says Captain Kevin Williams, spokesperson for Parow Police Station.
Williams says officers found a broken window at the scene
and also saw a suspect trying to hide inside the house.
“The suspect fled the crime scene and jumped into the
neighbours’ yard. Police chased the suspect and found him in possession of
three fossil watches and one fitness watch,” Williams says.
Police also recovered a laptop, data projector and
sunglasses outside the house. The value of stolen property is estimated at R54
000.
Williams says the suspect from Uitsig is known to Parow
police and has had run-ins with the law since the age of 13.
The man was arrested and detained at Parow Police Station on
charges of housebreaking and theft.
The suspect will appear in court on Wednesday 22 August.
