A 58-year-old man was declared dead on Impala Street in Kleinvlei on Monday, 4 November, following an apparent drinking spree with two friends.
Medical personnel responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the man could not be revived and was declared dead on the spot. The two other men, found lying on the pavement beside him, were transported to a medical facility.
“Kleinvlei police have registered an inquest to investigate the circumstances of the incident,” said Sgt Wesley Twigg, provincial police spokesperson. “A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”
Local authorities are working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the death.
