A Cape Town based diverse music and media collective, M.A.D. CPT, has been nominated twice at the Cape Town Artist Awards for the Best Content Creator of the Year, as well as Best Rapper of the Year.
The hip-hop outfit is made up of producers and brand ambassadors and were nominated in September.
“We are in the second round for the Top 30 of the competition which ends on 4 November, so we need all the votes that we can possibly get,” says Luweeg Luis (25), chief executive.
M.A.D. CPT, or Make a Difference Cape Town, provides recording services for artists, offer beats, live performances, photography, music videos, graphic designing, custom clothing, does events, and artist management. They also offer community and youth development services.
The group members originates from across Cape Town, including Parow, Elsies River, Delft, Thornton, Salt River and Worcester in the Boland.
“For the community we do outreach and skills programmes where we give back and volunteer our skills to empower our youth especially the ones at risk. We are all about uplifting and empowering our people and if we had the millions, we would give every young person an opportunity to better themselves.
“We believe art, media and drama has the power to create change and bridge the gap of unemployment,” says Luweeg.
