A light delivery vehicle was recovered in Durbanville, with its passenger found unharmed after being hijacked earlier in Brackenfell on Monday.
Brackenfell police spokesperson Capt Erica Crous says, according to information, the white Hyundai H100 was standing at a red traffic light at about 13:50 on the corner of Brackenfell Boulevard and Old Paarl Road when two unknown men approached the passenger’s and driver’s side of the small truck.
“They pointed a firearm at the driver (39) and told him to get out of the vehicle, which he did.
“His passenger (32) was also threatened with a firearm and instructed to move to the middle. Both suspects got into the vehicle and drove towards Durbanville.
“On the corner of Langeberg Road and Tambotie Crescent the vehicle broke down,” Crous says.
“The two men threatened the passenger to stay in the vehicle or he will be shot. They then allegedly got into a silver or grey coloured Mercedes, which sped off.
“The passenger stayed in the vehicle until the police arrived,” Crous says.
Nobody sustained any physical injuries and no shots were fired.
While no arrests have yet been made, a hijacking docket was opened for investigation
