The weekend got off to a bad start for criminals in Bishop Lavis as cluster police pounced on a house in David Street.
Following a tip-off, officers arrived at the house at about 13:00 on Friday (24 February) and found an array of ammunition and drugs.
Police spokesperson, Captain Marie Louw, says officers confiscated six .357 Magnum rounds found in a wardrobe, 202 Shotgun rounds followed by 40 whole mandrax tablets, 40 half mandrax tablets, two big packets of mandrax powder, five sachets of tik, two tik straws, two shopping bags filled with dagga, 36 “stoppe” dagga, 10 sachets of dagga and cash worth R2 020.
Louw says two men were arrested and now face drug dealing charges and the illegal possession of ammunition.
She says at the same time Bishop Lavis police responded to a gang-related shooting in Bonteheuwel where a suspect opened fire on officers. She says the cluster project team along with officers from Elsies River Police Station were called for help and nine suspects aged between 19 and 25 were arrested.
