The Grade 11s clearly enjoyed the experience.

Non-profit company Coin Care hosted a Knit-a-Thon for the Grade 11 learners of Soneike High School on Tuesday 24 June.

Adèle Alexander who gave a demonstration explained knitting can be done anywhere – no electricity or machines needed – and money can be saved knitting your own mittens, beanies, scarves and more.

The learners tried their best knitting rows of a mitten for Coin Care’s Mandela Day “Warm hearts project”.

A prize was up for grabs for the learner who knitted the most rows in each session. All learners received a goodie bag made by the women from Coin and socks donated by Falke.

Ackermans, Cash & Carry Kuilsrivier, and Kleen-Eezy also contributed, said Cheryl Johnson, CEO of Coin Care.
