A man was shot and killed in Kuils River on Wednesday, 21 February during a house robbery around 04:05.
Kuils River police spokesperson Captain Isaac van Niekerk says the shooting happened in Hoop Street, Klipdam.
“According to the complainant, he heard a noise in the house. When he investigated he noticed an unknown man in the study. He said the intruder was standing with his (the complainant’s) laptop under his arm and with a screwdriver in his hand.”
Van Niekerk says the homeowner told police the intruder allegedly tried to attack him, so he took out is firearm and shot twice in the direction of the man.
“The intruder died on the scene.”
He says the intruder gained access to the house by removing a window.
“A case docket was opened for further investigation,” says Van Niekerk.
