The B-All Transformation programme has been launched at Goodwood College, targeting Grade 8 and 9 learners with the aim of transforming their mindset towards learning.
This innovative initiative focuses on developing academic independence, language skills, and good school habits, ultimately empowering learners to reach their full potential. It is about transforming the learners’ mindset by providing them with the skillset that supports it and by giving the learners excellent opportunities to succeed.
Building academic independence
The programme’s core philosophy is built around the idea of “building the boat, catching the fish, and preparing the meal”. This metaphor illustrates the importance of learners taking ownership of their learning process, becoming self-sufficient, and developing the skills necessary to succeed academically.
A key aspect of the programme is language development, with a strong emphasis on reading and vocabulary building. The slogan “readers are leaders” resonates throughout every session, encouraging pupils to cultivate a love for reading and expand their vocabulary. Learners are challenged to learn one new word daily, fostering a habit of lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity.
The B-All philosophy
The B-All methodology, developed by Bradley de Kock, is rooted in his personal experience of overcoming adversity. Having faced challenges in Grade 4, De Kock transformed his struggles into a philosophy that emphasises being the best version of oneself in every endeavour. This approach inspires learners to strive for excellence and develop a growth mindset.
Good school habits are an essential component of the programme, equipping learners with the skills and routines necessary to achieve academic success. By instilling discipline, time management, and organisational skills, the B-All programme sets learners up for long-term success.
Positive impact
Currently, 24 learners are part of this exciting learning adventure, and the results are already promising. Parent Rochelle Goliath (42) shares her son Seth’s remarkable progress:
“Seth has shown remarkable growth in his confidence and self-expression. It’s evident that he thoroughly enjoys your sessions, as he consistently shares what he has learned with great enthusiasm. He takes pride in using the new vocabulary you’ve introduced, often forming his own sentences to demonstrate his understanding. Thank you once again for the meaningful impact you’re making in his learning journey.”
Student testimonials
The learners themselves are also raving about the programme. Aimee Rudolph, a Grade 9 learner, says:
“Mr Bradley has energy that I have never seen in a teacher before. Since I started the programme, I have been more excited to be at school.”
Caydee Daniels, another Grade 9 learner, echoes Aimee’s sentiments:
“The programme is amazing. It not only helps with schooling but everyday life too. It improves your performance at school and it gives you confidence in yourself.”
Zac Muller, a learner, adds:
“The programme is changing my life the more I learn. One day we will all look back and thank Mr Bradley.”
