The infamous Boston Centre in Bellville was cleared of all occupants on Tuesday morning.
The Centre close to Voortrekker Road has been dubbed the “biggest problem building in Bellville” and is regularly in the news for illegal activities on the premises and general decay.
It is estimated that around 700 people lived in the 54 flats in the building illegally.
An eviction notice was served on the owners and occupants two weeks ago.
On Tuesday morning the so-called ‘red ants’ marched into the building and forcibly removed all furniture and belongings and dumped it on the sidewalk next to the building.
Numerous inhabitants were seen leaving the building.
The eviction was expected to take a few hours.
