A 42-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested in a police raid in Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha yesterday for dealing in illegal medicines.

Members of Operation Shanela II acted on intelligence about suspected illegal activity at a residence in the area. During a search of the property officers discovered large quantities of medicine hidden under a bed.

The suspect admitted to selling the medicine to fellow Zimbabweans in the community, according to police.

He was arrested for contravention of the Medicine and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965 and was being held at Harare Police Station. The suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court once formally charged.
