The two managers were immediately arrested at the scene.

In a coordinated operation on Friday 30 May, the Hawks units based in Bellville and George, in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs Immigration Services and A21, a non-governmental organisation fighting human trafficking, arrested two suspects aged 31 and 34 for trafficking in persons.

The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant prompted by intelligence indicating a possible human trafficking victim being held against her will at a guest house in Goodwood and forced into sex work.

During the search, officers discovered four women who confirmed they were sex workers. Additionally, five other adults and three small children were also found on the premises. Among the adults, two were identified as the managers of the guest house.

Upon further investigation, it was established that one of the women was a victim of trafficking. The two managers were immediately arrested at the scene.

The victim received medical attention at a healthcare facility before being referred to a safe house for protection and support.

The suspects appeared in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Monday 2 June, facing charges related to human trafficking.
