Hoofweg Primary School delivered school shoes to a community support group and toiletries to House of Hope and the Wesbank High School’s matriculants, gift packs and treats to the elderly in Wesbank, as well as food hampers to the needy in the community.
Hoofweg Primary School in Wesbank recently held a very successfull series of charity events.
Between October and November they gave baby gifts to Cotland (an organisation that works with early childhood development).
They also delivered school shoes to a community support group and toiletries to House of Hope and the Wesbank High School’s matriculants, gift packs and treats to the elderly in Wesbank, as well as food hampers to the needy in the community.
According to the principal, Darren Dirks, they do not only want to teach the curriculum.
“As educators, we believe in nurturing not only the minds but also the hearts of our learners. Our recent 21 good deeds charity outreach embodies the core values of compassion, empathy, and community service that we strive to instill in our school community. The efforts of our learners, teachers and staff in coming together to make a positive impact reflect the true spirit of education – not just learning for oneself, but learning to contribute to the well-being of others,” says Dirks.
He says he is proud of all involved in the charity drive.
“This experience goes beyond the classroom, teaching our learners the profound lesson that small acts of kindness can lead to monumental change. Together, we are not just shaping minds; we are building a community that cares, empathizes, and actively contributes to creating a better world for all,” says Dirks.
