A 25-year-old Wesbank man has been arrested after he was caught with a homemade firearm by Mfuleni police.
Police spokesperson, Captain Nomathemba Muavha, says while patrolling Wesbank on Tuesday at about 01:30, officers were conducting stop-and-search operations when they saw someone drop something and run away.
Officers chased the man and found a homemade gun with one round of R5 ammunition in it.
She says the 25-year-old man was arrested and will appear in the Blue Down’s Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 23 February.
