The Goodwood Neighbourhood Watch recently learned that the Goodwood Victim Support Team was lacking bibs and identification cards, essential items for properly identifying themselves at crime scenes. Recognising the importance of equipping this group, the neighbourhood watch stepped in to provide the necessary gear.
“The neighbourhood watch thought it was important to assist this group and supplied them with the necessary bibs and ID cards,” says Leona van Wyk, spokesperson of the Goodwood Neighbourhood Watch. The victim support team consists of police officers working alongside dedicated volunteers, all committed to providing crucial support to victims in the community.
In a recent handover ceremony, Wilma Kotze, chair of the Goodwood Neighbourhood Watch, presented five bibs and four identification cards to Sgt Lucille Fortune, the head of the victim support team. These items are specifically for new volunteers who had not yet received their identification gear.
This act of support underscores the collaborative spirit between local organisations and the police, aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in the community. The bibs and ID cards will help ensure that victim support team members are easily identifiable when they arrive at a scene, promoting trust and order during critical incidents.
The Goodwood Neighbourhood Watch remains committed to supporting local initiatives and ensuring that all community safety efforts are well coordinated and effective.
