Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel André Traut confirmed that a case of attempted robbery and assault was reported to the Brackenfell police on Monday afternoon.

“The case was reported following an alleged incident where a 17-year-old female victim was attacked by two suspects in a park at around 11:00 on the same day.”

Traut says that investigations into the circumstances of the matter led to the arrest of the complainant on Tuesday for defeating the ends of justice.

“She is suspected of having submitted a false statement to police,” he says.

The girl will be appearing in the Kuils River court on Thursday.
