A 14-year-old girl from Valhalla Park may never walk again after being shot by alleged gangsters.
Andrea Fredericks was shot in the face by alleged gangsters on Saturday while walking in the street.
She was rushed to a local hospital before being transferred to Tygerberg Hospital.
Gang violence recently flared up again in the area. Residents says that it is because a certain gang is trying to gain ground in a rival gang’s territory. TygerBurger could not independently confirm this.
Sgt Samantha Adonis, Bishop Lavis police spokesperson, says during the last week Valhalla Park was a shooting range.
“One of the shooting incidents left a 14-year-old-girl with a bullet in her spine. The following morning a female member of the community was shot in the shoulder. Our Bishop Lavis police officers worked tirelessly to combat the shooting crimes in the area and followed up information that led to the arrest of a 28 gang member in connection to the shooting incidents.
“They also followed up information that led them to the informal settlement area of Sewendelaan where they arrested two armed men with firearms and someone in possession of an undisclosed amount of tik.
“The officers intensified the area with visibility and do everything in their power to combat these crimes,” says Adonis.
There has been a surge in gang and gun violence in the province. People have also been killed in Eerste River, Bonteheuwel, Kraaifontein Elsies River.
