A German couple visiting Cape Town were victims of a house robbery in Parklands during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 23 November).

According to Table View police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler,  the couple were asleep in a home in Stepney Road when the woman heard a noise and went to investigate.

“She opened the sliding doors and saw three unknown male suspects standing in front of her.  She screamed for her fiancé and she ran to another part of the house.  Her fiancé came running and he was attacked by the suspects and sustained minor injuries.  They were not armed with firearms, but with a brick and bolt cutters,” Chandler says.

The woman pressed the panic button and the suspects took personal belongings of the couple and fled the scene on foot.

“Unfortunately, no description could be provided by the traumatised couple. They were offered victim support, but declined.”
