Gas shop alight in Parow

Two fire engines and a rescue vehicle responded with 14 firefighters. No injuries were reported.

The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire on the morning of Friday 12 January at the Blue Flame gas shop in Voortrekker Road, Parow.

Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Theo Layne, says they responded to the fire just after 07:20. Voortrekker Road near the shop was closed to the public while the fire department was busy containing the fire.

“We had a fire at the office area, at the rear of the building. Fortunately, we managed to contain the fire within that area.”

Layne says the front of the shop sustained some smoke and water damage.

“Two fire engines and a rescue vehicle responded with 14 firefighters. No injuries were reported.”

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the City’s fire investigation safety officer.

All roads near the shop have since been reopened.
