Police arrested a 23-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed
firearm in Bonteheuwel on Wednesday (16 August).
Bishop Lavis police spokesperson, Constable Samantha Adonis,
said the arrest happened around 20:45 while police were doing patrols in the
gang shooting hotspots in the area.
“In the attempt to prevent any shootings from occurring, the
members caught a man in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”
She says the arrested man is a member of the Funky gang in
the area.
“We want to thank our members for their bravery and
dedication towards their commitment to keeping the community safe. One more
firearm off the streets and few more lives saved.”
