In the heart of Goodwood, a dream born in 2020 has grown into a powerful platform for aspiring entertainers. Founded by Olwethu Mahangu, Ollywood was conceptualised with one goal in mind: to give talented individuals the support and opportunities they need to succeed in the creative industry.
Mahangu, a DJ himself, knew firsthand the struggles of breaking into the entertainment world.

“The biggest challenge is the lack of support,” he explains. Determined to change that, he spent the past four years building a fully functional and equipped studio. Today, Ollywood has supported over 100 clients, providing them with mentorship, exposure, and practical tools to grow their careers.
At the studio, DJs are offered the chance to record their sets free of charge. These sessions are uploaded to Ollywood’s YouTube channel and shared across social media platforms, giving up-and-coming talent visibility to potential clients and fans.
For some, this has already opened doors to radio interviews, bookings, and gigs that once felt out of reach.
For all entertainers
But Ollywood is not stopping with DJs. “We started with DJs, but this platform is for all entertainers,” says Mahangu. Plans are already in motion to expand opportunities for other creatives, ensuring that singers, dancers, and performers will also benefit from the initiative.
Though talks of collaborations are still underway, the focus remains on empowering those who show hunger and determination. “We are doing this by all means to make dreams come true,” Mahangu adds with passion.
From its humble beginnings to becoming a beacon of hope for local artists, Ollywood is proving that with the right support, creativity can truly flourish.
