A group of four robbers stormed a Paarden Eiland bakery this morning, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Maitland police spokesperson Constable Lorencial Johnson says four armed men entered the Espresso Bakery at 09:50.
“Two of the men emptied the cash tills while the other two went to an office at the back. Here, a staff member was counting out the staff bonuses and the robbers took all of that too.”
Johnson says according to a witness, the men fled in the scene in a white Mercedes Benz. Police checked the registration number and confirmed that false plates had been placed on the car.
No shots were fired and there were no injuries, Johnson confirmed. Police have also not made any arrests.
