Four men accused and convicted of committing various crimes
including murder and robbery, were put behind bars, the police say.

Milnerton police spokesperson, Captain Nopaya Madyibi, says
three of the men were convicted and sentenced for separate murder cases, while
one was sentenced for committing a robbery with aggravated circumstances.

Madyibi says the men were all caught by the Milnerton police’s
serious and violent crimes unit (SVC) and sentenced at the Cape Town Regional
Court.

The first convict, a 21-year-old, was sentenced for committing a
murder in Joe Slovo Park on Tuesday 14 February 2017. He was handed down a
12-year sentence.

The second convict, a 36-year-old, committed a murder in Dunoon
on Monday 4 September 2017 and was given a similar jail sentence. The third, a
45-year-old, was convicted and sentenced after stabbing his girlfriend in
Dunoon on 5 July 2014. The man fled to the Eastern Cape where he lived after
committing the crime four years ago.

Madyibi says the police went the extra mile to apprehend him.

“The SVC managed to trace him and brought him back to court,”
Madyibi says.

The man was sentenced to 15 years.

The fourth convict, a 27-year-old, was sentenced to 10 years for
committing a robbery on Friday 21 April 2017. The incident also occurred in
Dunoon, Madyibi says.
