Khayelitsha police and the Operational Command Centre (OCC) arrested five suspects for hijacking a truck in La Belle Road, Bellville, on Monday morning (16 October).
According to provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, the police received a tip-off about the truck, which contained cigarettes, liquor, clothing and cellphones.
“Due to the police’s instant reaction, five suspects were arrested with goods valued at R300 000 after the truck was found abandoned in Site C, Khayelitsha.”
The suspects, four males and a female aged between 20 and 27 years of age, are due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
